Comparison pricing
Different places have different prices. Here is a summary of what I've found.
| Item | NECSC | Leener's | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Liquid vegetable rennet | $6.50 / 2 oz | $4.00 / 1 oz | |
| Liquid animal rennet | $6.50 / 2 oz | ||
| DS Mesophilic (A) | $6.00 / 5 packets | $5.00 / 8-dose jar | NECSC doesn't use the "A" in the name. Leener's does. |
| DS Thermophilic | $6.00 / 5 packets | $6.00 / 8-dose jar | NECSC Thermophilic already contains Italian Starter ingredients |
| Italian Starter | $5.00 / 4-dose jar | Leener's Thermophilic requires separate Italian Starter | |
| Mild lipase powder | $6.00 / 2 oz | $4.00 / 1 oz | |
| Cheese coloring | $5.00 / 2 oz | $2.00 / 1 oz | |
| Cheese salt | $3.00 / .5 lb | $2.50 / 2 lb | |
| Calcium chloride | $5.00 / 2 oz | $2.00 / 1 oz |
NOTE: Leener's offers a "Mesophilic B" that is roughly equivalent to NECSC's "Flora Danica". I don't anticipate using either in the near future, but I wanted to make note of here, just in case.
