Spam filtering - 2006 Oct 17
Cheesy's just installed the FuzzyOcr plugin, which analyzes those annoying spams where the spam payload is hidden in a GIF attachment. It's already blocked 33 of them since he put it on. Buy Cheesy a beer!
Haybaler Migration Info - 2006 Oct 1
IMAP
We are migrating haybaler this week, as previously noted. Most services should transfer fairly transparently, with one exception: IMAP mail access.
You will most likely need to change a setting in your IMAP client to get this to work again, specifically, go to your account/server settings preferences and find where it lists the IMAP folder prefix and remove the part that says "INBOX". Then save the new preferences.
In Mail.app, for example, this is under the "Advanced" tab:
In Thunderbird, you will find this setting under the "Advanced Settings" button on the "Server Settings" preference page:
mboxes
If you are still using the oldschool 'mbox' delivery with local access, we have been forced at this point in the 21st century to stop supporting that format by default. If you absolutely must have your mboxes, you can force that behavior by overriding the $DEFAULT variable in your ~/.procmailrc (which is probably already set.)
If you haven't seen this in a timely manner, and rely on default delivery, then your old mail is in an mbox in /var/mail/$username while mail since the migration is in /var/spool/maildirs/username@sackheads.org/Maildir/.new/
web logs
The old baler weblogs are in /home/inc_backup/httpdlogs if you want to save them for analysis, etc. The new logs in /var/log/httpd were freshly created.
crontabs
If you have a personal crontab on oldbaler, you may want to migrate it. Lots of paths changed and such, we won't be migrating those ourselves.
