Hotels

There are several hotels in the area that offer reasonable rates:

Fairfield Inn Boston Dedham
* Rate is $99 a nite
* Free breakfast
* High speed wired internet access in rooms (doesn't say if it'™s free or not)
* (Kris) This is the hotel that I originally reserved a block of rooms at (under the name "œSummit")
but when I saw that the Travelocity rate was the same as the discounted rate, I canceled the
reservation. So do NOT ask for our block —” just make your own reservations
* (Kris) Looks a bit cheaper if you book flight and hotel together.

Potential Activities

Baseball game

  • (Dave) Beckie and I are really up for the baseball thing if there is enough interest from others.
  • (snadra) me too!
  • (jpayne) The Pawtucket RedSox are home that weekend too if you just want baseball and not majors. If not, Melissa got tickets for a Yankee's/RedSox game at Fenway on the day of the game, so Angels/Sox should be doable :)
  • (rachel) i am as capable of drinking beer in the sunshine as anyone!
  • (chime) Fenway!!!
  • (slather) All else fails we can stand outside Yawkey way wearing Yankees gear.

Drinking

  • (rachel) cheesy and i have a drinking date. all weekend.
  • (jpayne) this item ends up on every summit list for some reason. i'd like to figure out why some day.
  • (imzadi) Kentuckians, please bring some good bourbon.
  • (slather) I may well step off the plane loaded folks because that's just the best thing about flying.

BBQ / picnic somewhere nice in the area?

Culinary tour of Boston

  • (rachel) hurray, summit! hmm, i like the idea of the culinary tour, but for $48, lunch should be included... i'm not sure why it costs so much. for that price, i'™d rather just go out to a good restaurant or get ingredients from the markets on the north end and spend $48 on food to cook for everyone at jpayne'™s house :)
  • (chime) I am totally in favor of giving rachel $48 to cook for me! :) I will be in charge of making the signs for everyone'™s hotel room doors.
  • (snadra) Maybe two or three people could go on the tour and then learn all the good stuff, then spend money for everybody and have a big Italian goodie feast!

New England Aquarium

  • (rachel) ooh, i am up for this, i love dem fishies :)

Go Karting

Blue Hills trails

  • (snadra) Great idea! We could also combine it with the picnic idea above, and maybe even have tons of Italian snacky foods :)
  • (chime) I am sensing an Italian theme here :)

Nudie Bar

Boston Marathon

  • (imzadi) The race won't be happening this weekend, but we could pretend! effendi could be our tour guide.

Boston Duck Tour

  • (rachel) current plan is to get tickets for tour leaving at 11am from the prudential center.
  • (slather) duck tours rock
  • (sandra) Add your name to the list below if you are positive you want to go on the Boston Duck Tour at 11am on Friday. (Someone in Boston might buy you a ticket locally, so this list is for real)
    • Sandra
    • BlueCamel
    • Violet
    • rachel
    • slather
    • shimr
    • Mags
    • rick

Summary / Comments

Now that summit is over, feel free to record your memories by adding your summary and/or comments below!

<snadra> What a great summit weekend! We went to the aquarium and saw jellyfish, then went to Fenway and didn't see a baseball game. We were too late to ride the Ducks, but we did ride the 'T' and mostly avoided the rain. I got my maple walnut ice cream and we had a mountain of onion rings and the Lobster Special (it's a Lobster!) at a Mexican Irish Pub. We lost Yosh, we almost didn't see Elric, and we moved Cheesy. Can't wait to do it again next year!
