Lexington, KY

A great host city, and always an option. Any ideas on how we can make it extra special?

  • Mammoth Cave Tour (any time)
  • Taste of the Bluegrass (every June)
  • Keeneland horse racing (every April and October)
  • Thunder Over Louisville fireworks show (every May)

Details about Thunder Over Louisville:

  • Web Site: http://www.thunderoverlouisville.org/
  • What it is: A HUGE fireworks show held in honor of The Kentucky Derby
  • Where it is: Downtown Louisville, on the river
  • Hotels: The Galt House is a hotel right on the river. All balcony rooms are reserved for sponsors only. All remaining "river view" rooms are reserved via a waiting list that begins the day after the event. Therefore there is basically no shot at getting a room here that's worth it. Suggest if we go that we get a hotel a few blocks away to return to after the show, thus saving us from traffic and the drive home that night.

Rent a big beach house for everyone!

(Note: Timing will be tricky. Winter months are much cheaper, but some people have school conflicts. Also, some units have to be rented for an entire week.)
