In mid-may we have an annual concert and party devoted to bacon (the food product, yes yes) where hundreds of pounds of bacon are consumed, bacon soap created et al. This year is the 8th year - Baco de Mayo VII.

I'd suggest either linking the two (I'm immobile in May due to this and am located in the Washington, DC area) or at least swinging by one on the way to the other. I think DC and Raleigh may be 7 or so hours from each other.
